Happiness defined by Choice or Circumstance
Define yourself by the following statement:
Are you still waiting for your circumstances to change before you’ll allow yourself to be happy or do you choose to be happy and allow your circumstances to change?
Most of us have learned to dwell on what would make us happy, and we refuse to be satisfied until those things happen. We want what we want NOW, we don’t think we need to earn or wait for a better time.
But do you do anything to make your circumstances change in our lives in order to make yourself happy?
Think long and hard about that previous statement.
Everything that makes us happy will generally be more satisfying IF WE WORK towards that goal rather than doing what our little inner voices demand of us. By doing so we choose to change our circumstances which, in the long run, will allow us to be happier.
Think of one of your truly prized items, degree or person in your life. Something in your life that brings you pride. Have there been times you’ve really had to work hard to attain this?
I always think of our children. It takes 9 months and a lot of physical work to give birth. Then we spend the time to nurture them, take care of them, etc and guide them through life. If we left them without working hard to raise them or our interactions are minimal, what kind of children would we have?
What needs to happen to make you happier? What circumstances need changing?
Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.
